CHANDIGARH/SRI MUKTSAR SAHIB, March 7:
In a major intelligence-led operation amidst the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Sri Muktsar Sahib Police has dismantled a drug network with the arrest of a drug smuggler and recovered 10.5 kg opium and Rs 35000 drug money from his possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Friday.
The arrested accused has been identified as Raju, a native of village Bhagwanpura and currently residing residing at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in Malout. Apart from recovering opium and drug money, police teams have also impounded his TVS Apache Motorcycle bearing registeration number PB 08 ES 4930.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that further investigations are on to establish backward and forward linkages in this case.
Sharing operation details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sri Muktsar Sahib Akhil Chaudhary said that acting upon pinpointed information, teams from CIA Malout under supervision of SP Investigation and DSP (D) promptly acted and nabbed accused Raju after recovering 3.5 kg of opium wrapped in a transparent packet along with Rs 35,000 drug money from his possession.
He said that during questioning, accused Raju confessed that he had concealed more opium at his house. Based on his statement, police teams conducted a search at his house, leading to the recovery of an additional 7 kg of opium, he said.
The SSP said that the arrested accused is a habitual drug smuggler and was also wanted by the Sri Muktsar Sahib Police in 54 kg poppy husk recovery case registered at Sadar Police in March 2024. Further investigation is ongoing, and further revelations are expected, he added.
A case FIR No. 15 dated 06.03.2025 has been registered under section 18(B) of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sadar Malout.

ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ-ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ‘ਯੁੱਧ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ’ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮਿਲੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ‘ਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮੁਕਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਡਰੱਗ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕ ਦਾ ਪਰਦਾਫਾਸ਼ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਤਸਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ‘ਚੋਂ 10.5 ਕਿਲੋ ਅਫੀਮ ਅਤੇ 35000 ਰੁਪਏ ਡਰੱਗ ਮਨੀ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅੱਜ ਇੱਥੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਜਨਰਲ ਆਫ਼ ਪੁਲਿਸ (ਡੀਜੀਪੀ) ਪੰਜਾਬ ਗੌਰਵ ਯਾਦਵ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਦੱਸਣਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਰਾਜੂ ਵਜੋਂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਿੰਡ ਭਗਵਾਨਪੁਰਾ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਲੋਟ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਰਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਅਫੀਮ ਅਤੇ ਡਰੱਗ ਮਨੀ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਪੁਲਿਸ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਟੀਵੀਐਸ ਅਪਾਚੇ ਮੋਟਰਸਾਈਕਲ (ਰਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਨੰਬਰ ਪੀਬੀ 08 ਈਐਸ 4930) ਵੀ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਡੀਜੀਪੀ ਗੌਰਵ ਯਾਦਵ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਗਲੇ-ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਬੰਧਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਅਗਲੇਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮੁਕਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੁਪਰਡੈਂਟ ਆਫ਼ ਪੁਲਿਸ (ਐਸਐਸਪੀ) ਅਖਿਲ ਚੌਧਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਵੇਰਵੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਭਰੋਸੇਯੋਗ ਸੂਤਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਐਸਪੀ ਇਨਵੈਸਟੀਗੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਡੀਐਸਪੀ (ਡੀ) ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਹੇਠ ਸੀਆਈਏ ਮਲੋਟ ਦੀਆਂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਪੈਕੇਟ ਵਿੱਚ 3.5 ਕਿਲੋ ਅਫੀਮ ਅਤੇ 35,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਡਰੱਗ ਮਨੀ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਰਾਜੂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੁੱਛਗਿੱਛ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਰਾਜੂ ਨੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਅਫੀਮ ਛੁਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਰਾਜੂ ਦੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ‘ਤੇ, ਪੁਲਿਸ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਤਲਾਸ਼ੀ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ 7 ਕਿਲੋ ਅਫੀਮ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਹੋਈ।
ਐਸਐਸਪੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮ ਆਦਤਨ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਤਸਕਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰਚ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਦਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਦਰਜ 54 ਕਿਲੋ ਭੁੱਕੀ ਬਰਾਮਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮੁਕਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਲੋੜੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਅਗਲੇਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਖੁਲਾਸੇ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਥਾਣਾ ਸਦਰ ਮਲੋਟ ਵਿਖੇ ਐਨਡੀਪੀਐਸ ਐਕਟ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਾ 18(ਬੀ) ਤਹਿਤ ਐਫਆਈਆਰ ਨੰਬਰ 15 ਮਿਤੀ 06.03.2025 ਨੂੰ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
